It is the most costly variety of dates in the world, like Medjool Dates. The moisture of Piarom dates is under 15 % that can be kept at room temperature for more than 1 year.

It is fleshy and Semi-Dry containing of 15% moisture. These are usually harvested in October at the beginning of autumn  and continues till the end of November. With dark brown color, Piarom has thin skin, low sugar content. For this reason it is not at all harmful for the diabetic people.

The Piarom dates are divided into two grades following the sizes:  Jumbo or Big sizes (Max 120 pcs/kg) & Standard or normal sizes  (Max 140 pcs/kg).

The pitting may be done in date factories either by crushing and sieving the fruits or, with more sophistication, by piercing the seed out, leaving the fruit intact.

The calyxes of the dates may be removed in date factories mechanically. The surplus date is made into cubes, paste, spread, powder, vinegar, jelly, jam, juice, syrup, or alcohol.
